Google is a Multinational Tech giant Founded in 1998 USA. It is the 3rd largest company in the world with a staggering market cap of $1.9T. Only Microsoft and Apple Inc are able to surpass its humongous valuation. To date, Google has acquired over 232 companies. But today we will talk about 20 companies only. So let's What are Google's major Acquisition.





1. Motorola Mobility:





Motorola Mobility LLC, marketed as Motorola, is an American consumer electronics and telecommunications company, and a subsidiary of Chinese multinational technology company Lenovo. Motorola primarily manufactures smartphones and other mobile devices running the Android operating system developed by Google. Google bought Motorola in 2012 for 12.5 billion euros but later they sold this to Lenovo for $2.91 billion.





2. Nest:





Google Nest is a line of smart home products including smart speakers, smart displays, streaming devices, thermostats, smoke detectors, routers, and security systems including smart doorbells, cameras, and smart locks. Google bought Nest in 2014 at a price of  $3.2billion.





3. Double Click:





DoubleClick Inc. was an advertisement company that developed and provided Internet ad serving services from 1995 until its acquisition by Google in March 2008 at a price of $3.1 billion.





4. Looker:





Looker Data Sciences, Inc. is an American computer software company headquartered in Santa Cruz, California. It was acquired by Google in 2019 for $ 2.6 billion and is now part of the Google Cloud Platform. Looker markets a data exploration and discovery business intelligence platform.





5. Fitbit:





Fitbit is an American consumer electronics and fitness company. It produces wireless-enabled wearable technology, physical fitness monitors, and activity trackers such as smartwatches, pedometers and monitors for heart rate, quality of sleep, and stairs climbed as well as related software Google acquired it in 2007 for $2.1billion.





6. YouTube:





YouTube is an American online video sharing and social media platform headquartered in San Bruno, California. It was launched on February 14, 2005, by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. It is owned by Google, and is the second most visited website, after Google Search. Google bought it in 2005 for $1.65 billion.





7. Waze: 





Waze, formerly FreeMap Israel, is a subsidiary of Google that provides satellite navigation software. It works on smartphones and other computers that have Global Positioning System support. Google bought it in 2007 for $1.3 billion.





8. HTC: 





HTC Corporation is a Taiwanese consumer electronics company headquartered in Xindian District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. Founded in 1997, HTC began as an original design manufacturer and original equipment manufacturer, designing and manufacturing laptop computers. Google bought it in 2018 for $1.1 billion.





9. AdMob: 





AdMob is a mobile advertising subsidiary of Google, originally founded by Omar Hamoui. The name AdMob is a portmanteau for "advertising on mobile". It was incorporated on April 10, 2006, while Hamoui was in business school at Wharton School. The company is based in Mountain View, California. Google bought it in 2006 for $750 million.





10. Android: 





Android is a mobile operating system based on a modified version of the Linux kernel and other open-source software, designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Google bought it in 2005 for $50 million.

To date, Google's most expensive and loss-making purchase was Motorola mobile they bought it at 12.5 billion and sells at $2.91 billion. Around $9.59 billion loss. And Google's most profitable acquisitions are YouTube, Android, and Admob. Other than Google ads YouTube and Admob are the biggest contributors to Google's revenue which is around 24% ( almost a quarter) in monetary terms it is $43 billion.
